The permanent exhibit celebrates the music icon and guitar pioneer Les Paul at the Waukesha County Museum in Wisconsin and his incalculable influence on contemporary music. The 2,000 sq. ft. exhibit tells the story of home town boy Les Paul - the “Wizard of Waukesha” - in six chapters, each one devoted to a specific aspect of his life. The multi-level approach employs graphics, headlines, narrative copy, video and an abundance of artifacts from Paul’s life.
An extended video provides a rich experience of Les Paul’s performances music throughout his long career that is also played over a high-end audio system exhibit wide. Through a set of five large illustrated images, guests also learn about Paul’s auto accident that nearly ended his career and ultimately led to his greatest successes. Museum guests can enjoy a photo opportunity with a life-sized Les Paul graphic cut-out, compare the sounds of various guitars designed by Paul through a series of interactives, discover hidden audio clips of Les discussing his inventions and post notes about their personal dreams and ambitions on the exhibit’s closing “Dream Wall”.
