From Harvest to Home is an interactive infographic based exhibit that is part of the GROW Pavilion at the Saint Louis Science Center. The educational goal of the exhibit is to emphasize the route of harvest crops through food processing from the moment of harvest, how the crop is transformed into a variety of products and the many familiar forms it takes within the home. As an example, visitors can follow one specific crop, corn- as it is processed into a large variety of forms, uses, and products.
The exhibit uses a combination of infographics and interactive, hands-on manipulatives. Through these, visitors directly engage in the action of processing food. Some examples include gathering, peeling, pouring, crushing, grinding, mixing, extruding, separating, sorting, and moving.
